Abstract:

In this paper, V/UHF band blade monopole and circularly polarised UHF band cross dipole antennas are mounted on the aircraft. The radiation characteristic analysis of antennas placed on aircraft carried out using full wave and asymptotic hybrid solver. The two blade monopole antennas are placed on top & bottom and cross dipole antenna on top of the aircraft. The radiation patterns are getting distorted along length of aircraft, the nulls are observed in various cuts. The nulls are around 25dB, 20dB, and 22dB for top, bottom blade monopole antennas and a cross-dipole antenna placed on the aircraft respectively.

I. Introduction

The number of antennas on board is increasing day by day. Defence and Civilian aircraft both have utilization of various number of antennas for different applications which increases the complexity of analysing the performance of each antennaes). The integration of a huge radio frequency system leads to an increase in the complexity to investigate the performance and one of the issue is Antenna integration i.e. antenna placement on the body of an aircraft, ship or any other platforms, popularly known as Antenna placement analysis[1].
