Abstract:

This paper addresses the optimal control problem of switched nonlinear systems. Indeed, a new mechanistic algorithm called Selfish Herd Optimization (SHO) is suggested. The proposed approach consists of minimizing a defined performance criterion that depends on the optimal switching instants to be found. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated through a switched hydraulic two-tank nonlinear system.

I. Introduction

Switched dynamical systems are a particular kind of hybrid dynamical systems which are formed by various modes and a switching mechanism that govern the switching among them [1]–[15]. In fact, numerous engineering systems can be classified as switched dynamical systems [1]–[11].
