Biography
Julia Boike received the B.S. degree from the Institute for Hydrology, University of Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany; the M.A. degree in geography, on the topic of “Seasonal hydrology and geo-chemistry of two small high arctic catchments, Axel Heiberg Island, N.W.T.,” from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1993; and the Ph.D. degree, on the topic of “Thermal, hydrological and geochemical dynamics of the active layer, Siberia,” from the Institute for Geosciences, University of Potsdam, Potsdam, Germany, in 1997.,During 2000–2003, she conducted postdoctoral work through a Leopoldina stipend at the Water and Environmental Research Center, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, AK, USA.
