Biography

Yi-Ping Su was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She received the B.S. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 2009 and the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2015. ,She is currently an Engineer at NovaTek, Inc., Hsinchu. She is a Member at the Mixed-Signal and Power Management IC Laboratory, Institute of Electrical Control Engineering, National Chiao Tung University. Her current research interests include the power management integrated circuits design and analog integrated circuits design.(Based on document published on 12 October 2015).

A MEMS variable capacitor having additional carrier beams is proposed. The use of the carrier beams increases the capacitor's tuning range and prevents the top plate from collapsing at a tuning range of 50%. The tuning range was measured and found to be 410% at 1 GHz with a maximum DC bias voltage of 9.2 volt. A novel MEMS variable capacitor having two level suspended beams is proposed. The addition of another beam considerably extends the maximum possible displacement, which in turn increases the capacitor tuning range.
