Biography
Philip C. Woodland (M'90) is currently Professor of information engineering with the Engineering Department, Cambridge University, Cambridge, U.K., where he has been a member of faculty staff since 1989. His research interests are in the area of speech technology, with a focus on all aspects of large vocabulary speech recognition systems. Other work has included auditory modeling, statistical speech synthesis, named entity recognition, and spoken document retrieval. He has led the development of CUED large vocabulary speech recognition systems for the last decade. He was a Director of Entropic from 1995 until 1999.
