A novel 77 GHz subharmonically pumped self-oscillating mixer has been implemented using monolithic-microwave integrated-circuit (MMIC) technology. The microstrip mixer achieves mixing and doubling simultaneously using a single 4 /spl mu/m/spl times/15 /spl mu/m/spl times/0.15 /spl mu/m gate-length pseudomorphic high electron-mobility transistor, eliminating the need for an external local oscillato...Show More
A novel 77 GHz MMIC self oscillating mixer is presented with measured results. The mixer achieves mixing and doubling simultaneously using a single pHEMT. The mixer exhibits a measured conversion loss of 12 dB at 77 GHz and an average measured conversion loss of 15 dB from 70 to 85 GHz which compares well with simulated results.Show More
A low cost W-Band MMIC pHEMT subharmonically pumped self oscillating mixer has been designed and characterised. The mixer uses a single device to achieve mixing and doubling simultaneously. The mixer uses the enhanced second harmonic of this oscillation to mix with the RF. A novel feedback arrangement is also described. The feedback enables oscillation at half the LO frequency and also ensures a m...Show More
