I. Introduction
Ultra high definition (UHD) TVs are now emerging in consumer markets, but there does not exist a sufficient amount of UHD contents available for services due to costly acquisition devices and large bandwidth occupancy. This has attracted the use of efficient up-scaling methods such as super-resolution (SR) methods, which can be used to generate high-quality high-resolution (HR) images or videos from low-resolution (LR) inputs. With SR, high-quality contents of higher resolution such as UHD can readily be obtained from full high definition (FHD) or high definition (HD) contents [1], [2]. While SR also includes multi-frame SR which reconstructs one HR image from multiple LR frames, our paper mainly focuses on single-image SR.
