A fast and innovative method using a monochromatic red LED to measure the optical density of black matrix is developed in this study. The results show that the 3-Watt monochromatic red LED performs better than that of the currently used 100-Watt halogen lamp by reducing the pumping speed by 40% and the 3-sigma standard deviation of the test samples is also superior by 40%. The measurement differen...Show More
A lighting device for plant growth with adjustable diffuse light was designed using a full-spectrum LED with a spectral range of 380−780 nm. Based on the photophysiological characteristics of plants and their different light requirements, the device combined the diffuse reflective film and the light source leaf angle to establish three different lighting models. LIGHTTOOLS software was used to sim...Show More
Now-a-days the amount of power consumed by lighting and streets shares a major energy demand. The vehicles are passing over always and a part of places will be consisting of less density areas and even no vehicle moments itself in few areas. But during night all street lights will be on in conventional street lighting system. To overcome from this issue, a proper energy saving methods and lighting...Show More
Solar cell is a light-dependent cell that works under normal sunlight. Nowadays, PV is being used under indoor light environment. Indoor light is an abundant source for such light dependent applications and the efficiency of the absorption process of light play an important role in the performance of the solar cell. So, light intensity and temperature have a great effect on the performance of the ...Show More
In this paper, a multiple-input multiple-output control system integrated with daylight harvesting is presented as a proof-of-concept system for energy-efficient greenhouse lighting. The control objective is to regulate the intensity of dimmable multispectrum light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures for achieving desired spectral irradiance levels and color ratios while utilizing the natural sunlight a...Show More
Light pollution is becoming more and more an issue not only for astronomical observations but also for the quality of human life. Global light emission from surface light sources is best detected by satellites. However, drones and air ballloons can play important roles in taking local measurements from convenient altitudes and positions. The scope of this paper is to define a technique for carryin...Show More
The interest in the field of energy harvesting is related to the successful development of effective power sources that can be used indoors for driving electronic devices, such as wireless sensors, in the home or in building or in other applications, such as that of internet of things or domotics. One of the prime candidates is represented by photovoltaic cells, especially in their thin flexible f...Show More
Low-order photometric parameters of light fields are important aspects determining lighting qualities but difficult to be measured. In this article, we did a systematical investigation into the performance of a cubic meter and a tetrahedron meter as well as an HDR panoramic map-based method in simultaneously recovering light density, direction, and diffuseness. Five metrics were introduced with tw...Show More
The Hospitals are the organizations, built up for dealing with human prosperity which typically works 24 hours a day and all year around. Artificial lighting accounts for a considerable amount on energy consumption. When planning for energy efficient lighting, lux level requirement should never be trade off, while limiting the lighting burden and energy consumption. The paper proposes energy effic...Show More
LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology is constantly expanding and, in addition to its consolidated use in residential, industrial and public lighting, it is widely being applied in controlled environment agriculture to replace or supplement sunlight. Among its potential applications in horticulture, the use of artificial lighting with LED systems can occur in growth chambers, greenhouses, vertical...Show More
Solid-state lighting (LED lighting) is an energy efficient alternative to conventional sodium, mercury and fluorescent outdoor lighting. The high spectral density of blue light emitted by nominally "white" LEDs has in recent years become an ecological and health concern. Monitoring the global presence of LED lighting as a fraction of total light pollution has hence become a parameter of interest t...Show More
This letter presents three low-operating-voltage silicon-based light-emitting devices (Si-LEDs) designed and made in a commercial standard 0.18-μm CMOS process without any modification. The Si-LEDs with a new threeterminal and wedge-shaped forward-biased carrier-injection-type p+-n junction structure, have high optical powers. The output power increases by two orders of magnitude up to 1.78 μW wit...Show More
Automation has significantly simplified our daily lives, but the escalating number of vehicles on the roads, particularly in Bangladesh, has led to persistent traffic congestion and increased human effort. The existing manual traffic light system proves inadequate for addressing this issue promptly. To address this, we propose an experimental solution, an automated traffic signal system operating ...Show More
Various streets and outdoor lighting applications are subjected to mesopic vision and mesopic photometry system. Although the lighting design for these applications are performed considering photopic region, it is appropriate to consider the mesopic effects for visually effective and energy efficient lighting design. The adaptation luminance and mesopic luminance should be considered along with th...Show More
In phosphor-based high-power white light-emitting diode (LED) emitters, heat is generated by the phosphor layer due to Stokes shift and light absorption. To estimate the heat generation by the phosphor layer, a phenomenological 1-D model is developed and high-power white LED emitters with different correlated color temperatures (CCTs) are measured. The model prediction and experimental data show t...Show More
The objective of this paper is to educate the reader on the criteria to appraise overall energy efficiency of lighting systems and to provide guidelines for identifying energy saving options in lighting. The scope of this paper is limited to interior lighting installations like commercial buildings and industrial buildings. The methodology described in this paper helps to understand energy efficie...Show More
Analysis on the light influx into a bottom-gate, etch-stopper structure thin-film transistor is presented. Reduction of the light influx by means of structural changes in the device can lead to a universal improvement in negative-bias temperature illumination stress instability of metal–oxide transistors. When the devices are illuminated by a fixed light source from below, the dominant light influ...Show More
Cyanobacteria Spirulina is rich in nutrients and a variety of bioactive substances and is essential to the ecosystem and human production activity. The process of biomass production strongly depends on light. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive research on the influence that various parameters of light have on biomass production. To study the effect of cross-linking density of silicone encapsulant on gas permeability, a light-emitting diode (LED) package was produced with two kinds of silicone, methyl-group (silicone A) and phenyl-group (silicone B), and a sulfur compound gas permeability test of the fabricated packages was performed. We found that the main penetration route of sulfur compound gas into the Ag-plated layer ...Show More
This work examines the effects of polarization-related electric fields on the energy band diagrams, wavelength shift, wave function overlap, and efficiency droop for InGaN quantum wells on various crystal orientations, including polar (0001) (c -plane), semipolar (202̅1̅), semipolar (202̅1̅), and nonpolar (101̅0̅) (m-plane). Based on simulations, we show that the semipolar (202̅1̅) orientation exh...Show More
This paper proposes a new method for estimating the lifetime of the InGaN/GaN-based light-emitting diode (LED) chip by analysing the density of nonradiative recombination defects. The nonradiative recombination defect is a major factor affecting the performance of LED chips, and the increase in defects eventually leads to the chip failure. Therefore, the growth rate of defects determines the lifet...Show More
Energy wastage, traffic jams, and traffic monitoring are the three main problems the world's population is confronting. The traditional roadway management method is ineffective at controlling the flow of traffic when one lane has significantly more traffic than the others.
