The Design of a Multi-Band Millimeter-Wave Microstrip Antenna for 5G Applications

A multiband compact crescent-shaped microstrip patch antenna is designed and proposed in this paper. The antenna is fed by a microstrip feed line matched to 50 Ohm. The designed antenna operates at four 5G resonant frequencies: 25.6 GHz, 28 GHz, 31.7 GHz, and 37.35 GHz. The antenna has a peak gain of 11.48 dBi at 32 GHz, with a maximum radiation efficiency of 87 % at 34 GHz. The proposed antenna design has a compact footprint of 26 x 20 mm. The antenna is easy to integrate with RF circuitry and is suitable for high throughput mmWave 5G communication.
