Research on Measuring the Equivalent Electrical Parameters of the Epithelial Tissue using the Kinova Robot

We are attempting to investigate and measure the non-linear electrical properties of the skin-electrode interface at 1V voltages in order to better understand the physical processes that occur on the surface of the epithelial tissue at the skin-electrode contact. The purpose of this experimental model is to serve as a first step in the creation of a device. Two simple circuits were used, which are mounted on the same support that is attached to the Kinova robot. The electrodes are the same as those used in ECG investigations and are powered at a voltage of 1V at a frequency of 500 Hz. They are connected in series, in order to be able to determine the electrical parameters of the skin: series resistance (Rs), parallel resistance (Rp) and parallel capacity (Cp). The first circuit refers to a measurement on a normal epithelial tissue surface, and the equivalent electrical parameters to N are as follows: the series resistance will be RsN, the parallel resistance will be RpN, the parallel capacity CpN and the tissue resistance RbodyN. The tissue that requires investigation is labeled with IS from “Investigated Skin” and the equivalent parametersareas follows: the series resistance will be RsIS, the parallel resistance marked RpIS, the parallel capacity CpIS and the resistance of the tissue to be investigated will be RbodyI.
