Research on electrical performance enhancement technology in splice area of large assembled radome

Aiming at the problem that the splicing area (reinforcement rib/joints) of large fabricated radome affects the electrical performance of enclosed antenna, this paper focuses on three methods to improve the electrical performance of these areas. Optimization of the electrical performance improvement by applying metallic wire grid electrical tunable unit, frequency selective surface (FSS) loaded in splice area and graded material. Compared with the single-layer dielectric in splicing area, these methods show different performance improvements, in which the application of FSS structure can better improve the transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves.
