Embedded measurement system in mechatronic capacitive balance based on ceramic coil springs

This paper proposes an embedded capacitive system for accurate mass measurements based on ceramic coil springs balance. The originality of the proposed mechatronic system is that provide a high sensibility measurement of 1,15 Femto-grams with low cost while ensuring the measurement of creep effects. The proposed electronic part is based on sigma-delta converter performing a measuring rate of 1 Hz. Experimentation results shown the performance of ceramic coil springs for accurate mass measurements while providing a constant cumulative creep effects which can be corrected by an embedded data processing.
