A Method for Steering Vector Modification Based on the Arrival Pattern of Reliable Acoustic Path in Deep Sea

This paper focuses on the problem of target detection based on a large aperture vertical line array via a reliable acoustic path in deep-sea environment, analyzes the reasons for the gain loss of conventional beamforming processing using the large aperture vertical line array, and finds that the pitch angle differences of the acoustic signals reaching the different elements of the large aperture vertical line array, which are the main factors restricting the performance of conventional beamforming processing. To solve the problem, an array steering vector modification method based on the arrival pattern of reliable acoustic path is proposed. Simulation results show the advantages of the proposed method over conventional beamforming processing and reveal that the processing frequency band, the array aperture, and the target range are the main factors affecting the sound field adaptation processing gain.
