Performance comparison of KVM and Proxmox Type-1 Hypervisors

The topics of this paper are the performance comparison and potential issues that occur in virtual machines, with KVM and Proxmox as chosen hypervisor representatives. The identical software and hardware components were used in the same testing environment to ensure adequate measurement validity. The testing procedure was conducted using the Filebench, on Ubuntu 20.04. The objective is to assess the impact of one and more virtual machines on file system performances. All measurement results are explained and further presented in detail using the corresponding graphical form.
