Overmodulation Strategy in Flux Weakening Region of IPMSM for Electric Scooter

This paper proposes overmodulation strategy in flux weakening region of IPMSM(interior permanent magnet synchronous motor) for electric scooter. In case of electric scooter application, the traction motor is controlled under limited battery voltage. And the driving condition of the electric scooter is getting severe because the scooter request higher dynamic and acceleration performance. It means the higher output power is required for the better performance. Therefore overmodulation can be one of solution to achieve these requirement. However, in case of inverter system using leg shunt resistor, it has a limit to the current measurement. So it have a bad impact on overmodulation. In this paper, overmodulation strategy in flux weakening region is proposed. The proposed overmodulation strategy is verified through the experiment.
