Optimal Location and Sizing of Renewable Energy Power Generation in Peer-to-Peer Microgrid System based on Minimized Power Loss

This study discusses the best size and placement of renewable energy power-generating units in peer-to-peer microgrid systems based on reduced power loss. The suggested research is explored, and the approach is stated by utilizing the IEEE 33 bus test system, according to an issue of renewable energy power generation for losses in power systems with the radial distribution. Genetic algorithms and power flow are combined to develop an optimization methodology that solves the issue. Models for the systems integration include 1, 2, 3, and 4 units of the most appropriate renewable energy systems to put them on the fundamental systems and operate them with the minimal amount possible of power loss. Creating an objective optimization problem to choose the optimal position is practical, as demonstrated by the simulation results and size for renewable energy sources. As the network load factor increases, the optimization challenge focuses on lowering power losses, improving voltage stability, and cutting expenses. This study may demonstrate that the optimization approach can determine the appropriate location and size for a peer-to-peer microgrid system. According to the simulation results, bus 6 is the best location for one unit, which should have a capacity of 2704 kVA. The best location is described in more detail for units 2, 3, and 4.
