Optimization of the modified Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm based on the hybrid phase

Gerchberg-Saxton (GS) method is the most classical iterative method of generating the phase-only hologram, while the initial random phase leads to the degradation and fluctuation of the reconstructed image quality. In this paper, a simple and effective iterative method is proposed to optimize the phase-only hologram for high-quality and stable reconstruction. The proposed method is based on the hybrid phase and a modified GS method. The hybrid phase is composed of the quadratic phase and random phase with a weighted parameter γ. Two weighted parameters a and ß are introduced to modify the GS method. Numerical simulation results show that the hybrid phase can effectively suppress the fluctuation caused by the random phase and improve the quality of the reconstructed image.
