Investigating the modal contents of multi-clad fibers to improve multimodal imaging

Multipath artifacts inherent to double clad fiber degrade the quality of optical coherence tomography images in multimodal imaging systems. This work investigates the modal properties that produce these artifacts, and proposes the use of a triple-clad fiber as an alternative to standard double clad fiber.
