Simulation of Solar Energy Based Off-Grid Substation for Remote Location

This paper explains the modeling and design of a solar-powered off-grid substation situated at a remote location. The major goal of this initiative is to electrify the villages that are now without electricity. The Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm is used in this system to ensure a steady output and efficient operation of solar PV modules. The Perturb and Observe (PO) algorithm, which is the most extensively used in the industry, is utilized to reduce system complexity, remove periodic tweaking, and improve efficiency in this work. The boost converter is connected to the solar photovoltaic system to provide the appropriate output voltage for feeding the solar PV array to the inverter. The MPPT algorithm generates the duty cycle, which is then supplied to the boost converter to raise the dc voltage level. Then this DC voltage is converted to a three-phase AC voltage that can be delivered to the load using a three-phase inverter. A Li battery has been added to store any excess power generated and to discharge if the solar panels' power supply is low.
