Optimal Integration of Distributed Storage Units to Prevent Blackouts in the Power System

The latest implementation of Distributed Generation (DG) has resulted in a revolution in distributed system utilization and the rise of power system concepts. Smart grids are designed to integrate alternative energy sources easier and improve system dependability and effectiveness. Energy Storage Systems(ESSs) provide some advantages that can assist utilities in achieving their objectives. The potential to increase system reliability through effective islanding operations is one of these advantages. This paper proposes an approach for improving system efficiency in distribution systems at a minimal price by allocating Distributed Storage (DS) units. The results of this paper are obtained using Matlab software. The proposed approach is tested on the radial distribution system of 33 Bus. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the size and allocation of the integrated DS unit. The principal aim of this study is to identify the most appropriate combination of storage units to install and loads to shed to meet all conceivable scenarios successfully.
