Nonlinear Model Order Reduction of a Variable Reluctance Stepper Motor

The parameterized Cauer ladder network (CLN), which is a recently developed nonlinear model order reduction method, was applied to the analysis of a variable reluctance stepper motor. The transient motor characteristics calculated using the parameterized CLN were in good agreement with those obtained using finite element analysis. Additionally, we showed that a nonlinear analysis of the step-input response can be conducted.
