Enhanced Voltage Gain of USMC by Modified Quasi Z source Impedance Network

This paper aims to extend the voltage gain ratio for ultra saprse matrix converter (USMC) by integrating modified quasi Z-source impedance (MQZSI). The main limitation of the conventional USMC is the voltage gain ratio
$(\leq 0.866)$
. Integrating the various Z-source impedance networks into the USMC and inserting a shoot-through time period in a switching period, achieved a voltage gain ratio greater than unity (boost function). But these converters are struggling with boosting factor dependency on the modulation index. The proposed converter overcome the above problem by modifying the Quasi Z source impedance network. The proposed converter holds two main advantages firstly it is giving higher voltage gain ratio compared to earlier reported converters and secondly both boosting factor and modulation index are independent of each other. Simulation results are showing the effectiveness of the proposed method.
