Approach for the formation of geometric parameters of lift surfaces of transport category aircraft based on specific criteria and integral indicators of their effectiveness

The modern process for developing geometric parameters of an aircraft takes a long time and includes many iterations. It requires many actual aerodynamic experiments that are expansive and has long durations. Rational choice of geometric parameters at the preliminary design stage can decrease both of these components: money and time. The rational designing process requires a unique approach that considers relations between aerodynamic and geometric parameters of an aircraft. The approach is proposed based on applying indexes of the integral efficiency and particular criteria of transport category airplanes for the formation of the geometric parameters of their lift surfaces system at the preliminary design stage. This method is based on solving the inverse problems of the aircraft design process. It can provide the maximum ratio of lift to drag, the required service efficiency indicators and the constancy of the selected parameters at subsequent stages of the aircraft design process.
