Wideband Streamlined Radome Design Based on Modified Graded Si3N4 Structure

A three-layered radome wall design is presented with wideband power transmission properties. Outer and middle layers of this proposed radome wall are made of porous silicon nitride material with varied dielectric constants. The inner layer is made of rigid insulation tile for impedance matching as well as thermal insulation. Calculation by equivalent transmission line model indicates that this proposed structure has satisfying wideband power transmission coefficients at high incident angle. Full wave electromagnetic simulation on radome model reveals that the three-layered radome design has fine wideband power transmission capability from 14GHz to 22GHz, which is a significant advantage over monolithic half-wave radome with limited bandwidth.
