Influence of Solid State Phases Interactions on Optical Properties of Oxide Glass-Ceramics Nanocomposites

and molybdate
$(m\mathrm{K}_{2}\mathrm{O}-k\mathrm{P}_{2}\mathrm{O}_{5}-n\text{MoO}_{3}: x\text{Bi}_{2}\mathrm{O}_{3}-y\text{RE}\ (\text{RE} = \text{Eu},\ \text{Pr})$
glasses were manufactured and studied. The glass-ceramics nanocomposites were manufactured by adding of the doped with
$\text{Eu}^{3+}$
or
$\text{Pr}^{3+}$
ions
$\text{NaCa}(\text{BO}_{3})_{3}$
or
$\text{KBi}_{1-\mathrm{x}}(\text{Pr}/\text{Eu})_{\mathrm{x}}(\text{MoO}_{4})_{2}$
micro/nanosized powders into the melts of noted glasses, respectively. The samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The SEM images of the glasses surfaces were found to be typical for known glass, showing wave- and crests-like details. The XRD patterns did not show any narrow peaks corresponding to crystalline inclusions into glasses volume. The PL spectra of both types of glasses showed wideband intrinsic visible PL at UV and violet excitation (250-420 nm). The narrow lines caused by
$f-f$
radiation transition in the
$\text{RE}^{3+}$
- ions were found in the PL spectra of the glasses doped with
$\text{Eu}^{3+}$
and
$\text{Pr}^{3+}$
ions as well as in the spectra of glass-ceramics samples. It was concluded that the ions are located in three types of environment: in crystalline particles, in the glass matrix, and in interphase layers. Thus, this observation allowed us to monitor interphase layer formation and to reveal in this way the interaction of phase components of the glass-ceramic nanocomposites.
