Modular Residential Power Supply With Renewable Sources, Zero Export Capability and Active Harmonic Filtering

A topology concept of a residential power supply system utilizing renewable sources and a storage battery is proposed. The system is modular and consists of grid-tie inverter and several DC-DC converters interfacing renewable sources and/or storage batteries to a common DC link. An original control approach for the grid-tie inverter is proposed allowing it to serve as an active harmonic filter (without need to install additional current sensors, as in conventional active power filters). The system has an ability to serve as an uninterruptible power supply in case of grid failure, provided that renewable sources and storage battery power is sufficient to feed the loads. An optional “zero-export” function is also provided.
