Impact of Reactive Current Injection Modes on Transient Stability of Grid-Following VSCs During Fault Ride-Through

This article analyzes transient stability of grid-following voltage source converters (GFL-VSCs) with different reactive current injection modes during fault ride-through (FRT). The nonlinear model of the system that captures the dynamic interaction between the current injection profile and the phase-locked loop (PLL) is developed, which reveals the impact of different reactive current injection modes on the existence of equilibrium points as well as transient dynamics of the system. Finally, case studies are provided to validate the theoretical analysis.
