A Prototype Development and Usability Evaluation of an E-health System

Proficiency in health information technology has instigated improvements in health outcomes among health consumers as well as contributed to delivering efficient and quality health services. The e-health system is considered one of the significant tools for disseminating information regarding health and its services among healthcare providers and patients. In terms of user experience and satisfaction, usability is acknowledged as one of the fundamental factors in the successful implementation of an e-health system. This study aimed to develop an e-health system prototype that focused on the quality of health information, system and service and propose usability testing of the developed prototype with the PSSUS questionnaire. This prototype is based on the components in a finalized model for developing an e-health system to support quality health information-seeking. During the usability testing, a total of 11 participants were involved and split into three groups: (1) health consumers who were the intended users of the system, (2) information system experts, and (3) health professionals. Based on the findings, the Heal-me. co system is beneficial to users and achieves the system goals as proposed. The success evaluation of Heal-me.co justified that the system is operating as expected and generated constructive remarks and new recommendations for enhancements on the features of the well-performed system.
