A Review Analysis of Switched-Capacitor-based Inverters with Different Output Voltage Levels

This paper presents a comprehensive review of some recently proposed switched-capacitor based boosting multilevel inverters. Reduced component count, self-voltage balancing capability of capacitors, and voltage boosting ability are the key features of switched-capacitor based MLIs, which make them suitable for power system applications such as renewable energy (RE) conversion systems. Lately, researchers have contributed to designing compact SCMLI structures with reduced peak inverse voltage (PIV) across the switches in order to propose a cost-beneficial inverter system. This brief provides a general review analysis of SCMLIs, yielding a high-resolution voltage waveform with five, and seven voltage levels. Finally, a comparative analysis among existing different topologies of the same voltage level is discussed, which proves that a cost-effective, simpler structure acquiring less space and having a generation of minimum losses is the footprints of recent developed inverter systems.
