Single Phase Isolated Onboard Charger for Electric Vehicle

Range is a major issue with electric vehicles. As a result, an AC charger is required to transfer power directly from the household grid to the Electric Vehicle (EV). An isolated onboard charger (OBC) using the PFC (Power Factor Correction) boost AC/DC converter and PSFB (Phase Shift Full Bridge) DC/DC converter is present in this work. The Implemented OBC operates at 650 W power rating. OBC is isolated, so small in size and unidirectional (Grid to Vehicle). Advantage of PSFB converter are high efficiency at high operating frequencies, minimal electromagnetic interference (EMI), reduced switching losses and low stress. In this paper 325 V AC voltage is converted to 65V dc voltage by use of voltage control scheme for the EV battery charging.
