Numerical Calculation of 1kW Cyclotron wave Converter for High-Density Power Transfer

A rectifier used in a wireless power transfer is important to decide which applications it can be adapted to. This paper presents a cyclotron wave rectifier that can convert kilowatt-class microwave into DC. A 2D3V particle-in-cell calculation for a direction conversion area, which is one part of the cyclotron wave rectifier, is conducted under some conditions, and a velocity spread of electrons varied with area lengths is reported. As a result, the highest velocity spread is occurred at 34 mm. Moreover, the highest RF-DC efficiency is estimated to be 86% with Vanke’s theory and an output DC power is assumed as 860W.
