A bidirectional WRC-FPLDs chaotic communication system with wavelength switchable chaotic carrier

We propose and demonstrate theoretically a bidirectional weak resonant-cavity Fabry-Perot laser diodes (WRC-FPLDs) chaotic communication system with wavelength switchable chaotic carrier. In such a scheme, one of the WRC-FPLD under fiber Bragg grating (FBG) feedback is utilized as a driving WRC-FPLD (D-WRC-FPLD), and the other two WRC-FPLDs are used as response WRC-FPLDs (R-WRC-FPLDs). Through adjusting the Bragg wavelength of FBG and the feedback intensity, a specify longitude mode in D-WRC-FPLD can be stimulated and output a chaotic light. Thus, the D-WRC-FPLD subject to FBG feedback can provide a chaos driving light with a switchable central wavelength. The simulated results show that, the time delay signature (TDS) of the chaos light with switchable wavelength from D-WRC-FPLD under suitable feedback parameters is greatly weakened. And high-quality chaos synchronization between the two R-WRC-FPLDs is obtained via an identical injection chaotic signal with suppressed TDS from D-WRC-FPLD. Due to the switchability of chaotic carrier wavelength, such a bidirectional chaotic communication system has potential application prospects in wavelength-division multiplexing chaotic optical communication.
