Research on the Effect of Traction Return Current on Locomotive Signal Equipment

The structure of traction network consists of contact wire, messenger wire, positive feeder, protection wire, ground wire and rail. The positive feeder and protection wire usually descend from high altitude to low altitude above the ground in the station due to space constraint. In this case, the traction return current in the positive feeder and protection wire will change and may cause interference to signal equipment. In this paper, the maximum disturbance voltage received by the locomotive signal antenna is obtained. The simulation results of the coupling disturbance voltage are compared with the field measurement data, and the envelope is consistent. The minimum protection distance from positive feeder and protection wire to track center is given to maintain the normal operation of locomotive signal equipment.
