Resource Virtualization in Edge Computing: A Review

In the era of the Internet of Everything, edge computing is developing rapidly. Due to the heterogeneous and decentralized distribution of resources, virtualization technology is generally used to integrate and isolate various physical resources in the edge computing environment in order to shield the differences in resources. Firstly, this paper introduces the concept of edge computing and the application status of edge computing. Then, it describes two virtualization technologies in edge computing, and discusses the current research status of these two virtualization technologies. Finally, the research direction of resource virtualization in edge computing we proposes.
