Model Predictive Control for Open Winding PMSM Considering Dead-Zone Effect

To improve the steady-state performance in conventional single vector model predictive control (CSV-MPC) of open winding permanent magnet synchronous motor (OW-PMSM) with common dc bus, an optimized model predictive control (MPC) considering dead-zone effect is proposed. First, the influence of dead-zone voltage vector (DZVV) in CSV-MPC is analyzed, and the process of judging DZVV is summarized. Then, the optimized MPC method considering dead-zone effect is put forward where the applied time of DZVV is redistributed. Finally, the experiment verifies that the proposed method can effectively reduce the current harmonic content without increasing the switching frequency and the suppression of zero-sequence current (ZSC) can be guaranteed.
