PV-fed DC-DC Converter with High Voltage Conversion Ratio Employing a Coupled Inductor

The converters used in renewable energy application should be capable of meeting the requirements demanded by the load under varying atmospheric conditions. A conventional boost converter have more switching losses and switching diodes have conduction losses, hence they may not be a good solution for high voltage DC-DC conversion. Using a converter with high output gain can minimize the voltage stress over the switches, input current ripple and also the voltage ripple. In this paper, a coupled inductor(CI) based PV-fed high gain DC-DC converter is introduced, which reduce the voltage ripple and stress across the switches. The voltage spike across the active switch is fixed by the clamping circuit. The leakage inductance energy is also fed to the output. Thus the conversion ratio of the converter is improved.
