Experimental Approach of Kaiser Function Implementation on Power-Weighted Linear Antenna Array

The Kaiser function is a potential alternative to be implemented in power-weighted linear antenna array. The design of antenna array which utilizes a set of coefficients as weighting function in power-weighted method is required to be implemented by simulation and fabrication in accordance with the theoretical approach. This paper exposes the design and realization of a 1×4 linear antenna array in which each radiator element uses a square patch and fed by folded proximity coupled feeding network. The characterization results show that the realized prototype of antenna array based on Kaiser function parameter (β) of 2.0299 could produce the radiation characteristic with sidelobe level (SLL) suppression up to 18 dB and width of main lobe (WML) of 21

. The results proved that the Kaiser function is a promising alternative of power-weighted method implementable in a linear antenna array design.
