Jamming Suppression for Uplink Massive MIMO Systems: A Semi-Blind Receiver Design

Jamming attack is a serious security threat for uplink massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In this work, we advocate an efficient semi-blind jamming suppression method against powerful jamming. Concretely, we develop an expectation-maximization (EM) based algorithm to enhance the parameter estimation accuracy for the interference rejection combining (IRC) receiver. We jointly estimate the legitimate channel and the jamming-plus-noise spatial correlation, and successfully obtain their closed-form solutions in each iteration of the algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm brings a remarkable performance gain compared to the conventional maximum likelihood (ML) and the linear minimum mean-squared error (LMMSE) based parameter estimators.
