Research on an Underwater Inductive Coupling Power Transfer Method

Inductively coupled power transfer systems used in oceanographic observations may be affected by current shocks, leading to misalignment, which is not conducive to the safe and efficient power transfer. In this study, we analyze the effects of different misalignment of magnetic couplers and propose an underwater inductive coupling power transfer method based on LCC-S compensation network. Theoretical calculation and analysis indicate the system has a certain tolerance for misalignment, a stable magnetic field can be formed between the transmitter and the receiver, and a constant voltage output is easy to be implemented. The transmission efficiency in seawater is also analyzed, and the eddy current loss curve is calculated. Simulations verify the conclusions of theoretical analysis. The results indicate that in the transmission gap of 10 mm, the transmission efficiency can be maintained above 80% in the load resistance range of 0 to 200 $\Omega$.
