Broadband Reflectarray Design for Wireless Applications

Microstrip Reflectarray Antenna (MRA) is an alternative for the high direct antenna that replaces parabolic reflectors. In this paper, a proposed, simulated, and implemented hexagon elements which arranged in a single layer substrate reflectarray for bandwidth enhancement. The side length of the hexagon elements is λ/4, and the operating frequency is 5.5GHz (C-band) with a (400 x 400 mm

aperture. The measurements also show that the proposed reflectarray offers low reflection loss as compared with the λ/2 grid. A (1 dB) directive gain bandwidth of about 28% is obtained when the feed is displaced at an angle of 30° with aperture efficiency of reflectarray is 56%.
