Estimation of Additional Internal Braking Force for Hydraulic Cylinder Piston

Studies of the braking process for the hydraulic cylinder piston due to the additional internal braking force, which arises due to the working fluid displacement from the end gap between side surfaces of the cover and piston, have been carried out. The working fluid flow is described in the cylindrical coordinate system. The flow is considered to be radial and laminar. When studying the flow, the action of mass forces, the fluid compressibility and the inertia of the flow are neglected. For the mathematical description of the process, the differential equation for the axisymmetric laminar motion of the viscous incompressible fluid is used. The motion equation was integrated using Newton's law for fluid friction, on the basis of which the distribution of the fluid velocity in the gap between side surfaces of the cover and piston of the hydraulic cylinder was obtained. Using obtained distribution of the working fluid velocity, the ordinary differential equation was established for the pressure distribution in the gap along the piston radius. By integrating the differential equation, the pressure distribution was obtained, on the basis of which the dependence was determined to estimate the additional internal braking force for the hydraulic cylinder piston. The analysis of the established dependence is carried out, the main parameters are noted that determine the additional internal braking force for the hydraulic cylinder piston. The example of estimating the braking force has been carried out.
