Part 2. Fuel’s exergy as base for a CE model based on biomass, biofertilizer and biogas

This research is based on a published methodology to estimate energy quality of gaseous fuels and fuel’s availability to produce work; this methodology was combined with the standard methodology to measure methane number of gaseous fuels. Fuel’s exergy was defined as fuel’s availability to produce mechanical work by its chemical composition in spark-ignition engines limited by fuel’s knocking resistance to electrical energy generation. This research proposes a CE model based on biorefineries using municipal organic matter to produce by anaerobic bio-digestion biofertilizer, and biogas to electrical energy generation. A case study is presented for the main South American countries to estimate the energy and economic potential of the CE model.
