A Comprehensive Survey on Hybrid Active Power Filter Topologies & Controller and Application in Microgrid

In recent years to mitigate effect of environmental pollution due to conventional energy sources i.e. coal and to fulfill load demand distributed generation (DG) play key role in system. Microsources, storage elements and loads connected or isolated from grid forming microgrid. In microgrid connection of power electronic devices pollute system with harmonic and deteriorate Power Quality (PQ) of grid. To improve PQ conventionally Passive Filter - Which suffering from bulky size and resonant problem, and Active Power Filter (APF) - Suffering from high rating of APF, are used. To overcome this Hybrid Active Power Filter (HAPF) - combination of passive and active filter is emerging technology for harmonic compensation. This paper presents comprehensive survey on HAPF converter topologies, controller and application in microgrid. The main aim of this survey is to provide status of HAPF and it's application in microgrid to researches dealing with PQ issue and mitigation techniques. More than hundred research papers are reviewed and depicted into various categories.
