Voltage Mode Control of Buck Converter using Practical PID Controller

This paper explains about voltage mode control of buck converter using a practical PID controller technique. In Crucial applications, such as power supplies for data centres, the buck converter is the most commonly used converter to step down the DC voltage level to the needed amount. This type of converter's voltage is controlled by switching, which stores energy in the circuit before releasing it at a predetermined voltage level to the output. This study focused on a Buck converter with the goals of i) controlling the output voltage under variable input voltage and load current conditions and (ii) attaining high efficiency while preserving quick transient performance. This converter's closed loop voltage regulation ensures that the output voltage remains unchanged regardless of load current, input voltage, or reference voltage fluctuations. PID controller in voltage mode controller can be designed by using small signal model of DC-DC buck converter which can be obtained with the help of circuit averaging technique. In this Paper, we can simulate the Buck converter with Different Case studies like step up load transient, step up input voltage transient and step-up reference voltage transient and we can observe output voltage response behaviour during those transient times. In this paper, a Practical buck converter is considered to capture all the non-ideality behaviour of the converter and Fixed Frequency-Trailing edge PWM method is used with switching frequency of 1MHz
