Deep-Sea in-situ Ecological Observation System Design and Application

Marine ecological environmental is an important part of the global environment. More and more researchers focus on how to obtain marine environmental data. However, the lack of deep-sea observation means is one of the main bottlenecks of deep-sea research. This paper designs a deep-sea in-situ ecological observation system, which can acquire long-term multi-parameter in-situ observation data of 6000m deep sea. Moreover, it can collect perceptual data of different profiles at the same time. The whole system comprises of four main parts: the satellite buoy on the sea surface, in-situ ecological monitoring station, inductive coupling transceiver profile monitoring and data service center. The developed system has the ability to collect and save deep sea ecological environment information from different kinds of environmental observation sensors, then delivers underwater sensory data periodically from in-situ ecological monitoring station to the surface buoy by acoustic modem, finally data service center can gain a rich supply of in situ observation data through satellite communication. Moreover, the proposed system can gather profiles' data with different depth using Inductive Coupling Transceiver (ICT). The proposed system has been applied in the South China Sea for more than one year and has perfect actual operation effects.
