Vehicle Localization Method Based on MEMS Sensor Data Comprising Pressure, Acceleration, and Angular Velocity

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is a widely used method for estimating the location of a car, but its accuracy can decrease depending on the reception status of radio waves from the satellite. This study presents a localization method that utilizes atmospheric pressure data, acceleration data, and gyroscope data with only a little help from GNSS. Evaluation results on a fixed road demonstrate the effectiveness of this algorithm, and details are provided for extending it to a more general road network composed of multiple links.
