A Survey on Students Preference in Selecting the Educational Institute

College education provides students with better chances of landing a good job. The cost of a college education can be quite high, so it's important that students and their parents see a return on their investment. Students and parents hear over and over again how successful students are going to be in college, and why their choice of a specific university needs to be the right one. This project aims to identify the most relevant features that students consider in choosing an American university. We need to analyze a number of factors including applications, admissions, and enrollments, as well as tuition and fees, college living costs, the types of degrees offered, and unique characteristics of the state where universities are located. This analysis was conducted using the dataset from kaggle.com ("American University Data" IPEDS dataset). This dataset contains a great deal of information that is available on American universities (that may not necessarily be in the top 10-20) for 2013. This dataset is not comprehensive in its coverage of the highest-ranking universities in the United States, but it contains enough information to make it representative of the sector as a whole. Over a thousand rows (universities) and 145 columns (information about those universities) comprise the dataset. This paper does not include several of those features as it is beyond the scope of this project. We deployed only those features that will answer the questions to achieve the project's goal. Numpy and Pandas are two of the most powerful packages used in this paper for data analysis, as are Matplotlib and Seaborn for visualization and exploration of the data.
