Design and Fabrication of a Miniaturized Microwave Absorber With Wide Band Absorption Characteristics

A thin broadband dual-layer absorber based on periodic Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) is proposed in this paper. The proposed absorber functions in the frequency range of 4.8 to 10.2 GHz at a reflection level of −10 dB. The operational characteristics of absorber using FSS is observed for TE and TM polarization and also its frequency response is observed for different angles of incidence. A prototype of the FSS based absorber is fabricated and the results are validated using measurements.
