Comprehensive Design and Simulation Study of the Dynamic Voltage Restorer

The dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) has been the most economical and effective compensation device for voltage sag. Considering the increasing penetration of renewable energy, main circuit and control strategy of the DVR are redesigned to promote the effective utilization of the renewable energy. Based on the analysis and research on the working principle of the DVR, the topology, the inverter, the series transformer and the filter of the DVR are comparatively studied and designed. Additionally, the voltage compensation strategy and the detection method of voltage sag are studied. Moreover, control scheme of the DVR is designed to achieve the voltage compensation quickly and accurately. Finally, the simulation is carried out to validate the voltage compensation performance of the designed DVR.
