Dynamic Behaviour of Induction Generator Connected to Wind Turbine

The wind turbines connected to distribution networks, is one of the renewable energy type that is a clean and available from the nature. Although the use of wind turbines provides many benefits it also imposes various challenges with regards to stability, control and protection. In particular, this paper concentrates on assessing the dynamic behaviour of induction generator connected to wind turbines in the event of faults. These wind turbines are connected to Tobruk steam power station in Libya. The dynamic performance of induction generator is identified and thoroughly explained using case studies implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC. These case studies also provide insight and understanding into the impact that faults have on the operation of both the wind farm and the network. The results show the stability of induction generator related to critical clearing slip which is different to synchronous generator that related to critical angle. Moreover, Mathematical calculations have been done and compared with the simulation results
